Olive’s Apron

Three years ago, my friend, Ashley Crossen, asked me to design her bakery, Olive’s Apron. This had been a dream of hers for years, and I couldn’t believe that she was entrusting me with bringing her vision to life. I hadn’t designed anything beyond our own home at that point!! What a huge leap of faith, and I wasn’t about to say no or disappoint her. I still can’t grasp that I was given this incredible and unbelievably fun opportunity. It opened up a whole new world for me. The two of us spent many months collecting and upcycling tables, chairs, mirrors, chandeliers, wall decor, and more. My garage was filled to the brim with projects, and my mind was filled with ideas of whimsy to whip up!! I wanted every single inch of the bakery to be unique, one of a kind, and thrifted when possible. A drab little cottage with lots of potential became a perfectly pink, enchanting, flower filled fairytale space that houses mouth watering confections and an assortment of teas!

“When I decided to open my bakery, the first decision I made was to ask Carrie to decorate it. And it was by far the best decision I’ve made to date. Almost three years later and people are still in awe when they come in. Carrie breathes life, whimsy, and love into everything she touches. She is unique, brilliant, and completely incredible at what she does. Being able to be completely hands off and trust that Carrie saw my vision and would execute it perfectly was invaluable. And honestly, she thought of things I never could have imagined! When you ask Carrie to be your designer, you will absolutely get something beautiful and unique- that’s just what she does. But you’ll also be getting something straight from her heart, and you can’t ask for more than that.”
